Of course, Mutter and his flute were inseparable. Here's the man himself in Regent's Park, one sunny day long ago, an inveterate Pied Piper, gathering a crowd ....

A quick chat with Billy and Jim... . Now, there was a time when Mr Warren always appeared on stage in a pair of carpet slippers. I know what happened to those slippers because Mut told me. In a car-park outside a service station, Mut and Bill decided the offending smelly objects required a holiday and popped them on the back of a lorry bound for Scotland. The slippers were last seen heading down the motorway towards John 'O Groats ....

My goodness! The days of spaniel haircuts. All I can say is God bless the barber's shop ....

Dress sense was never a strength, now was it? Flute-wise, however, Mr Slater is quite something else.

Musician...front man....clown.... Mutter was all these things. Once developed, such skills are never lost.
