A Little Bit More Rhubarb ....

jennie_mum.JPG (37496 bytes)
Well, I suppose we might as well let you know something about the Rhubarb Mum.... Our Jen herself.  Here she is on the beach at Ryde, on the Isle Of Wight, with her own Mum this Summer.
jennie_then.JPG (14558 bytes) Good grief!  Appearances are deceiving.  Looks like a candidate for the Choir Invisible.  Fat chance of that.

This is Jen, aged 19.  The picture?  It was a publicity shot for some nefarious singing activity she was up to at the time.  So what work did it get?  Oh .... entertaining kids at children's parties on naval bases round Portsmouth.

Honestly .... that's the TRUTH!

Well, now.... this is a year or so later.  This picture was taken in the grounds of the Bishop's Palace in Wells, Somerset.

By now, Jennie is up to her ears in mud, six inch nails, railway sleepers and unruly kids running Felix Road Adventure Playground in Easton, Bristol.  She's in Wells to lecture to a pile of vicars about the vagaries of  life in the multi-racial inner city.

Our Jen didn't own a dress at the time.  Threw this one together the night before out of a pair of old velvet curtains bought in a junk shop.   Couldn't really turn up in such a smart place in dirty trousers, now could she?

It's still there.

It's rather a tame affair now.  It wasn't then.

Rhubarb had to get in there somewhere.  This is Jen hurling  rhubarb at Trowbridge Festival last year.

She managed to give someone a black eye.  (She cringes with head in hands in the corner at the thought!)

Luckily it was a friend.  She's not doing that again, though.

...    Might be sued...!

jennie_dinan.JPG (31617 bytes) This is Jennie in Dinan this year.  So what does she do when she's not telling tall stories for The Internet, or feeding the 5000 that gather round her kitchen table, knife and fork in hand?

She'll curl up in a corner with a book given half a chance... likes swimming...  carries a sketch book around, but doesn't get much chance to use it...regularly has to be asked to leave the art galleries, museums, libraries she's found her way into because she's so interested in what's she's found that she's lost track of the time.... . That sort of thing!
