Something For The WeekendDAP101CDWho'd have thought it? More Stackridge after a 23 year break. Daft? No, eminently sensible. The Stackridge formula of musical pastiche, leavened with wry and humorous comment on life in general (and anything else in particular) is a timeless combination. This is not Stackridge revisited, it's Stackridge grown up and moved on. It is pop music, as Jim Irvin so rightly comments in the June edition of Mojo "for people d'un certain age". Young and old alike will enjoy this engaging and witty combination of musical styles and ideas. The music now runs from surprisingly potent pop such as the wonderful 'Something About The Beatles' to the humorous rock of 'Drinking And Driving' via mock Noel Coward and a Hoedown-meets-HotClub instrumental. Listen - and be amused and amazed! |
